The Keir Hardie Society is delighted to announce it will hold an event as part of Scottish Local History week at Hamilton Library on Thursday 6th March at 7pm.
The meeting will showcase the long and proud history the area has with the Labour and Trade Union movement.
Guests will hear from Local MP Jimmy Hood who will discuss Hardie’s Lanarkshire upbringing and his early life as a Miner in the Hamilton Pits of Quarter as well as discussing the 30th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike.
Society founder and GMB Political Officer in Scotland Richard Leonard will also speak on the life and work of Keir Hardie and how he remains relevant to this day.
All are welcome, so please come along for what promises to be an insightful and interesting event.
